Do you have a late fee policy?

Yes, I do. I wish I didn't have to have this sort of policy, but no-shows waste both my time and my other clients' time. As a result, clients who do not show up for their appointments will be charged the full amount for that session. Late cancellations, which are defined as cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment, may be charged half the amount for that session. This policy is not meant to be harsh but is instead in place to cover the cost of my wasted gas and time coming to the office. Multiple late cancellations and no-shows may result in termination of services.  Additionally, clients who provide non-sufficient funds or a bounced check will be assessed a $34 fee per instance.

What is a session like?

Counseling can make people nervous, so I do my best to be down to earth and connect with you. We'll start by reviewing your paperwork to ensure that we are clear about my policies and how our sessions will likely unfold. We'll take some time to get to know each other to make sure we're a good fit, and you'll have plenty of time to ask any questions you may have. We'll talk about your history, why you're seeking therapy, and the goals we want to work towards. Then, if we have time remaining, we'll delve into some of the problems you're having so that I can have a better idea of how I can help. I will discuss my therapy styles with you and suggest the best one to help you. We'll talk about some things that you might find helpful, and in the next session, we'll start tackling more issues.
